Softball shuts out Glendale on the way to a 8-0 win
After a week off due to rainy weather, the Raiders got back on the field taking on host Glendale. The Raider bats came alive rapping out 15 hits on their way to a 8-0 win over the Vaqueros. Pitcher Amanda Smith allowed just two while striking out 12 to get her 5th win on the season.
Danielle Bishop opened the game reaching base after the 1st baseman dropped the ball. Leah Cowans continued her hot hitting launching a 2 run homer to give the Raiders a 2-0 advantage after one.
The Raiders put a crooked number up in the 6th on Mia Gregory's 2 RBI double, her second on the day. Gregory would score on Ashlyn Olson's RBI single. 7-0 Raiders after 6.
Cowans rounded out the scoring in the top of the 7th. She singled and the Raiders used small ball to get her into scoring position. While on 3rd, Smith lined out to shortstop but the Glendale first baseman dropped the ball allowing Cowans to score. 8-0.
Cowans was 3 for 5 with a Homerun and 2 RBIs. Gregory had 2 doubles with 2 RBIs.
The Raiders are now 5-4 on the year and will host Compton on Saturday, 2/22 at 12p. This is a rain make-up from the Raider's opening week-end.
