Chris Cicuto has served Glendale Community College since 2001.  In over two decades of service to the Vaqueros, Chris has held a myriad of diverse positions on campus. His seven years of experience as Assistant Athletic Director and 15 years as Head Baseball Coach has prepared him for his administrative role as Associate Dean of Athletics.  Promoted from full-time faculty and Assistant Athletic Director in 2018, Mr. Cicuto oversees the 16 athletic programs representing over 320 student athletes annually and over 50 coaches and staff members dedicated to student athlete success.

As Head Baseball Coach, Chris has been named Western State Conference Coach of the Year six times (’11,’12’13’15,’16,’18), twice honored with the Award for Character and Ethics by the Glendale City Council and in 2011, Cicuto was name voted as Southern California Coach of the Year as well as the American Baseball Coaches Association Pacific Division Coach of the Year.

Chris’ proudest accomplishment has been the transfer rate of his student athletes that has soared over 83% in his 18 years in the baseball program.

Cicuto’s student-centered approach to recruiting, development and matriculation has been the main value of Vaquero Athletics for over 50 years and he continues to carry on that tradition set by his mentors Jim Sartoris and John Cicuto.

“Being part of the Vaquero Athletic Program is like being part of a new family, a family that is dedicated to helping students mature Socially, Academically and Athletically. We are dedicated to providing an environment for all races, genders and socioeconomic backgrounds to flourish and achieve their individual academic and athletic goals.”

Cicuto began coaching at Glendale as an assistant to Jon Strauss in 2001.  He helped guide the Vaqs to a school record in wins (34) and the program’s first ever back-to-back conference titles (2001 & 2002). Prior to being named head coach, Cicuto spent the summer as an assistant with the Chatham A's in the prestigious Cape Cod League under legendary John Schiffner.

Cicuto graduated from UC Riverside in 2011, where he played baseball under legendary head coaches Jack Smitheran and then assistant coach Doug Smith. Prior to UCR, he competed for two years at Ventura College, under head coach Don Adams and was an All-WSC selection in 1998.  Cicuto prepped at Agoura High School where he was an All-Marmonte League and All-Ventura County catcher in 1996.

Along with his BA from UC Riverside, Coach Cicuto holds an MA in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University. He and his wife Kelly are proud parents of their two children Samantha (’09) and Jackson (’11).
