Glendale improves to 4-0 in WSC East play with thrilling 2-1 win over Canyons

 
In a battle of two of the top ranked teams in Southern California, Glendale pushed cross the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning and held on to beat Canyons 2-1 Thursday March 15. GCC is now atop the WSC East at 4-0 and is 15-9 overall after its's fourth straight win. Canyons is now 2-2 in WSC East play and 11-9 overall.
 
The Vaqs manged just four hits all day but Tom Tabak came up with two singles including a dribbler in front of the plate to drive Mitchell Rathbun with the game winner. Rathbun scored both runners for GCC on the day and Jacob Gribbin and Grant Mona had the other hots for Glendale. Kevin Holcomb notched his second save of the week with a scoreless ninth inning.
 
Glendale hist the road Saturday to face Citrus at 1 pm. GCC is ranked No. 10 in the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association poll and Citrus, 13-8, is ranked No. 11.
