GCC Baseball completes sweep of L.A. Mission with 13-8- and 13-1-wins April 11-12; Now in second place in WSC South at 10-5 and are 20-13 overall.
In a three-game sweep of L.A. Mission College last week, the GCC Baseball Team scored 43 runs in three games and punctuated that sweep with a pair of wins to close out the week, 13-8 on April 11 and 13-1 April 12, They are now in second place in the WSC South at 10-5 and are 20-13 overall and are ranked No. 9 in Southern California by the CCCBCA.
 
 
Leading the way offensively for GCC Friday was sophomore Gabe Juarez who had four hits including a pair of doubles and a triple and drove in three runs on a day when the Vaqs had eight extra base hits. Ethan Perez had a three-run homer in the second inning and Izzy Madariaga also homered and Jackson Benattar homered to lead off the game and both had two hits. Dylan Goodrich pitched six innings to get the win, now 4-2, and Luis Fernandez, Liam Thatcher, Austin Nimri and Joseph Perez all pitched in relief.
 
GCC continues WSC play this week against Citrus College, Tuesday April 16 at 2:30 pm at home, at Citrus Thursday April 18 at 2:30 pm and home Saturday April 20 at 1 pm. All home games are at Stengel Field.
