GCC Baseball beats Citrus College 5-0 April 20; WBB players throw out the first pitch to celebrate WSC South Title
On a day when the GCC Women's Basketball team was honored for winning the 2024 WSC Title and several players threw out the ceremonial first pitch, the GCC Baseball Team took care of matters in its game, beating Citrus College 5-0 April 20. Glendale is now 22-14 overall and in second place in the WSC South at 12-6.
 
Starting pitcher Dylan Goodrich was in top form on the mound in his seven innings of work to improve to 7-2 as he struck out six and allowed just four hits and two walks. Daniel Vergara and Joseph Perz each pitched scoreless innings in relief.
Alex Dolan had three of the team's nine hits and got the scoring started with an RBI single in the first and added a run scoring hit in the fifth. Daniel Ruiz and Sam Grunberg had two hits each and Grunberg also hit a solo homer in the second inning and Gabe Juarez hit a solo homer in the sixth to make it 5-0. Jackson Benattar also doubled for Glendale.
 
GCC close out the 2024 conference regular season with three games this week against College of the Canyons, Tuesday April 23 at COC at 2:30 pm, at home Thursday April 25 at 2:30 pm at Stengel Field and Friday April 26 at COC at 2:30 pm.
