GCC Baseball erupts for 26-5 win over L.A. Pierce College Feb. 12; now 5-4-1 this season
On a cool and gloomy afternoon with the threat of rain in the air, the GCC Baseball Team supplied its own version of thunder and lightning in a 26-5 win over visiting Los Angeles Pierce College Wednesday Feb. 12 at Stengel Field. Glendale also lost to Saddleback College 13-6 on Feb. 11 and is now 5-4-1 this season.
 
Despite getting just 12 hits during the scoring barrage, the Vaqs benefited from 14 walks from Pierce and outscored the visitors 23-1 after trailing 4-3 after three innings. Glendale put the game away with a nine-run fourth inning to make the score 16-4 that was highlighted by a grand slam by Max Price that brought home the last four runs of the stanza.
 
For the game, Cris Banuelos got the win with his four innings of work in relief of starter Maximo Newhart and Nate Flores pitched the final three innings in relief. Jordan Viramontes had a triple and a homer for GCC and Mike Bang also had a homer and had four RBI and Alex Dolan had a double and three RBI and Ethan Pena and Ethan Munoz had two hits each and doubles.
