The anticipation of a WSC South showdown in a three-game series between first-game Glendale and second place Antelope Valley College March 25, 27th and 29th was not lost on the Vaqueros as they dominated the Marauders to extend their lead in the standings from one to four games with the three-game sweep to improve to 9-0 in conference play and 17-10-1 overall.
GCC beat AVC 6-1 March 25, 29-6 March 27 and 18-0 March 29 scoring 53 runs in the series on 49 hits and thoroughly dominate the competition from the first pitch of the series to the last. In the 29 -6 win on March 27, the Vaqs had 23 hits including 12 extra base hits and five homers with Ethan Munoz hitting two bombs and had five RBI. In the 18-0-win March 29, starter Liam Thatcher got the pitching with his six innings on the mound and Jorge Martinez totaled three innings in relief. Alex Dolan was key on offense with four hits and four RBI and Cooper Bowen had three hits including a three-run homer.
Glendale continues conference play against West L.A. College this week, playing one the road at West L.A. Tuesday April 1 at 2:00 pm, hosting West L.A. Thursday April 3 at 2:00 pm at Stengel Field and playing at West L.A. Saturday April 5 at 1:00 pm.
