GCC Football wins fourth straight game to improve to 5-1, beats L.A. Pierce 54-20 Oct. 19; Vaqs rack up 500 yards of total offense paced by freshman D.J. Cole rushing for 195 yards.
For a team that practices daily at 6:30 am, the 10 am start for the GCC Football Team's game at L.A. Pierce College Saturday Oct. 19 was nothing out of the ordinary for the Vaqs as they tallied 500 yards of total offense including 339 on the ground as Glendale rolled over the Brahmas 54-20. The win was the fourth straight for Glendale in its Pacific League opener as they improved to 5-1 overall.
 
Freshman D.J. Cole was one of the standouts for GCC as he rushed for 195 yards on 35 carries and two scores and Andranik Saryan added 98 yards on just eight carries. Quarterback Jackson Askins passed for 147 yards and two touchdowns on 13 of 20 and Shade Schaefer caught five passes for 81 yards and one score and the kicking game continued to shine as Alejandro Pereyra accounted for 12 points with two field goals and six extra points and he averaged 48 yards per kickoff with nine for 432 yards and three touchbacks. Daniel Autrey intercepted two passes and returned one 74 yards and Zavontae Flournoy-Trice picked off one pass for 31yards and Colin Farhberger led the team with seven tackles, five solo, and 1.5 tackles for a loss and Brooklyn Pasten added five tackles and recovered a fumble as Glendale limited Pierce to 226 yards of total offense and 10 first downs.
 
Glendale continues Pacific League play with a noon home kickoff against Los Angeles Valley College Saturday Oct. 26 at Sartoris Field.
