Late basket by Joel Finney gives GCC a 76-75 win over Canyons

On Jan. 4, 2020 the GCC Men's Basketball Team beat Santa Barbara 76-40. That date is significant because it was the last win in a tough season that has seen the Vaqs lose their last 10 conference games before beating College of the Canyons 76-75 Wednesday Jan. 12 in the Verdugo Gym at GCC.

With GCC trailing 75-74 and 9.4 seconds on the clock, Joel Finney sprinted the length of the floor and scored on a short jumper with 2.9 seconds left to help give Glendale the hard fought win in a game that saw both teams exchange leads several times.

Finney led the Vaqs in scoring with 19 points off the bench and his brother Christian Finney chipped in with 13 points and nine rebounds. DeAndre Walters and Andreyas Boghossian had 12 points each Christian Finney also had a team high three assists and four steals.

Glendale, now 6-19 and 1-10 in the WSC South plays at Antelope Valley Saturday Feb. 12 at 7 pm
