Playing for the GCC men's Golf Team was a great learning experience. I was able to play in a competitive playing field on some pretty difficult golf courses. Our team had the privilege of practicing at Oakmont Country Club (which in my opinion, could be in the top 10 courses in SoCal). Although golf is mainly an individual sport, I was able to experience what it is like to be on a team. We had many conference matches that were very close in terms of team scores. Sometimes, the difference in 3rd, 4th, 5th place was only 1-3 strokes. Overall, I was able to meet great people, including Coach Tyni, Coach Samson, and my teammates. I'm still a little bummed about how my second season was cut short due to COVID-19 because I felt really great going into it. Looking at the big picture of GCC golf, I learned many things, whether it came from my experiences individually on the golf course/conference matches or advice from the coaches, I have no regrets and only great memories of my short stay at GCC.

In terms of academics, scheduling was pretty easy because golf gave us priority registration. I switched my major a couple times, so I was doing a variety of different classes. I was able to transfer in 2 years to CSUN as a business major. However, I took summer and winter courses for both my two years. So, I never really had a break at GCC. I didn't overload myself with units during the season so I could focus mainly on golf. For me, it wasn't too hard to manage golf and my academics. I ended up transferring with a 3.5 GPA.
