GCC loses to Bakersfield 2-1 in hard fought game
After 45 minutes of scoreless play in the first half, the GCC Men's soccer team could not overcome two goals by visiting Bakersfield in the second half as they fell 2-1 in a conference match up Friday night at Sartoris Field. Glendale fell to 2-15-2 overall with the loss and 0-7-1 in WSC play.
Glendale starting goalie Harutyun Avetisyan turned away several attempts from Bakersfield in the game as the defense was up to the task in support of his turning away four of the six shots they attempted for the game, But the goal goals in the second half were too much to overcome and a goal by Makan Asfali at the 80 minute mark on an assist by Artoor Barfian was not enough to overcome the deficit.
The Vaqueros conclude the 2018 season with games next week at Victor Valley College Tuesday Nov. 6 and a home finale Friday Nov. 9 at Sartoris Field against Citrus College.
