It took exactly 17 seconds for the Glendale College Men's Soccer to gain control of Tuesday's Western State Conference home opener against Citrus College with the remaining 89 minutes and 43 seconds being a reminder of how well the Vaqueros can play on any given night.

The result was a 5-0 GCC victory for the Vaqs, now 1-0 in WSC play and 6-7-1 overall as they dominated the visiting Owls as Luis Zepeda scored his first two goals of the season including the first of the game on Glendale's opening drive on an assist by Vincente Sanchez. Derik Stepanians added two goals, his fourth and fifth of the season, the second one on an assist by John Crispi. Crispi added his sixth goal of the season with just over five minutes left in the game on a pass by Jairo Hernandez.

"The early goal by Luis was huge for us and gave us a big lift to start the game. We wanted to play more focused than we did in the loss to Santa Barbara last week,' said John Crispi. "We know we can play with anyone when we play like we did tonight, as a team with great confidence and focus. I love this team and I can't wait for us to play again.'

Glendale, which plays next at Antelope Valley College Friday Oct. 14 at 1:30 pm, was led defensively by goalie Mario Trujillo who had seven saves and leads the state with 107 this season and got his fourth shoutout Tuesday.
