How challenging was it during the pandemic?
During the pandemic it was pretty hard to be a student-athlete because my life was changed completely. I was used to having a routine schedule every day. But when the pandemic came, I didn't have to wake up early to get ready for school or softball. All I had to do was open my computer. So, I had to create new daily schedules for myself. What helped motivate me to stay focused on school and softball was the hope that one day we were going to play again, and I needed to be ready. With that in mind I made sure that I passed all my classes and continued to work out because if I didn't do those things and we were able to play again, I knew I wasn't going to be ready. Also being a student-athlete in the pandemic was challenging because I was so used to seeing my team every day. But then I moved back to Hawaii and now I am transferring. Right before the pandemic was the last time I got to play with my team.

Please share your experience at GCC?
I loved going to GCC. Everyone was so nice, the coaches, teachers, administrators and students. I am so glad that I got to go there and play softball for them. At first, I was really nervous to leave Hawaii and go to a school where I didn't know anyone. But everyone made me feel so welcomed, especially my team. I made a lot of great friends. That is why I am not really nervous to transfer because I am hoping that my experience at UNLV is just as great as it was at GCC. The students and teachers really helped push me to be the best I could be, which really helped my transfer academically go smoothly. I am sad to leave GCC, but I am excited for this next chapter.
