Sophomore Torii Forsberg helped GCC Softball win two of three games in Dave "Hawk" Wilder Tournament Jan. 26-27
On the mound or in the batter's box, Sophomore Torii Forsberg was an impact player for the GCC Softball Team as the Lady Vaqs won two of three games in the 19th annual Dave "Hawk" Wilder SoftbalTournament Jan. 26-27 at the Glendale Sports Complex.

  •  GCC lost to Modesto College 15-9 Jan. 26. Torii Forsberg took the loss and pitched five innings allowing five hits and striking out seven and hit a double and a triple to pace the offense.  
  • GCC beat Cuesta 3-0 Saturday Jan. 27-Forsberg got the shutout win and allowed just five hits and struck out three. Mya Chacon had two hits and an RBI.
  •  GCC beat Santa Barbara 6-5 Saturday Jan. 27-Mya Chacon had four hits including a homer, scored three runs and had two RBI to pace the offense and got the pitching save. Torii Forsberg had two hits and scored a run and had an RBI. Starting pitcher Desiree Guzman got the win pitching 3.2 innings and allowing five hits.
"I think this tournament showed how passionate we all are for this season. At the beginning it was clear that we had some kinks that needed to be worked out but by the end of the tournament it was easy to see how we all came together to pull out two wins in the second day,'' said Torii Forsberg. "Our teamwork shined through once we finally found our rhythm. Every single girl contributed in some way whether it was a nice play or an RBI. We did it together. We all have very high hopes and positive vibes for this season.!''
