Torii Forsberg leads GCC softball to 4-3 over Southwestern College in first game of doubleheader Feb. 23'; drop second game 15-0
On the mound and at the plate, Torii Forsberg was a dominant force for the GCC Softball team in a 4-3 win over Southwestern College in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday Feb. 24 at the Glendale Sports Complex. Glendale dropped the second game 15-0.
 
Forsberg paced the offense with three hits and drove home the run in the ninth inning on a sacrifice fly to break a 3-3 tie. The sophomore from Las Vegas was also a force on the mound as she pitched a complete game to get the win throwing 90 strikes in her 144 pitches and faced 39 batters. In improving to 5-4, she struck out five, walked four and allowed seven hits. Savannah Alvarez had a double and a homer and drove in two runs and Mya Chacon and Lilly Britto also had two hits each.
 
GCC hits the road for four games this week, Tuesday Feb. 27 at Golden West and Thursday and Feb. 29 at Santa Monica, both starting at 2 pm. They play at West Hills College Saturday March 2 against Siskiyous College at noon and West Hills at 2 pm.
