Savannah Alvarez homers and doubles in 17-0 GCC Softball win at Santa Monica Feb. 29
On the eve of Western State Conference play starting next week, the GCC Women's Softball Team got a win at Santa Monica College, 17-0 over the host Corsairs in five innings to improve to 8-7 this season. Glendale had six extra base hits among its 14 hits to win the wire-to-wire contest. 
 
Savannah Alvarez led the hit parade with three hits and five RBI including a grand slam home run and a double. Lilly Brito also had three hits, three RBI and scored two runs, Ariene Islas had two hits, scored three runs and drove in two runs and Tati Pisa had a pair of hits, scored three times and drove in two runs. Torii Forsberg pitched four innings to get the pitching win and struck out three and Desiree Guzman pitched a scoreless fifth inning.
 
Glendale plays next week at Oxnard College Tuesday March 5 at 2:30 pm, hosts Citrus College in its WSC opener Thursday March 7 at 2:30 pm at the Glendale Sports Complex and hosts a doubleheader Friday March 8 against Victor Valley College at 11 am and 1 pm at the Glendale Sports Complex.
