GCC Softball scores 12 runs in first inning, beat Oxnard College 14-1 March 5
On a day when the GCC Softball Team scored 12 runs in the first inning and single runs in the second and third innings, the Lady Vaqs beat Oxnard College 14-1 Tuesday March 5 to improve to 9-7 this season.
 
In that decisive first inning, Glendale batted around the lineup as Natasha Cohen drove in four runs with a two-run double and a two-run single in support of starting pitcher Torii Forsberg who struck out a career high nine Condor hitters and fanned three hitters in both the second and third innings. Forsberg also contributed on offense as she drove in two runs on a single in the first inning and had three hits on the day. Mya Chacon, Arlene Islas and Lilly Brito all had two hits and Savannah Alvarez drove in three runs in the first inning on a two-run double and a sacrifice fly. Desiree Guzman pitched the final inning for GCC.
 
Glendale opened up WSC play at Citrus College March 7 and was leading 4-2 in the fifth inning when the game was suspended by rain. The home doubleheader against Victor Valley College on March 8 was postponed because of field issues caused by rain.
