Mya Chacon steals home to help give GCC Softball a 5-4 win at Antelope Valley March 12; Lady Vaqs now 10-7 overall and 1-0 in WSC South
A stolen base is one thing but stealing home is another and GCC sophomore softball player Mya Chacon made good on the rare play as her heads-up sprint home in the sixth inning helped give Glendale a 5-4 win at Antelope Valley College March 12. The Lady Vaqs are now 10-7 overall and 1-0 in the WSC South.

GCC led 4-1 in the fifth inning led by a two-run single by Arlene Islas, who had two hits, and RBI singles by Angelica Saldana and Desiree Guzman. But Antelope Valley rallied to tie the game at 4-4 in the fifth inning until Chacon, who had a base hit in the game, scored the winning run in the sixth inning. Sophomore pitcher Torii Forsberg improved to 8-5 with the win, striking out seven and allowing just six hits while getting two of Glendale's seven hits on the day.

GCC plays next at the College of the Desert in a non-conference doubleheader Saturday March 15 at noon and 2 pm.
