GCC Softball improves to 5-1 with 12-4 win over East L.A. College Feb. 4

The Glendale College softball team was scheduled to play five games in four days this week at the Glendale Sports Complex - but due to rainy conditions, only the Tuesday, February 4 game against the East LA Huskies was able to be played. In the end, Glendale walked away with a five-inning eight-run mercy rule 12-4 victory to move them to 5-1 overall and winners of four straight games.

Sophomore shortstop Tati Pisa was the game-winning hero in this game with her single through the right side of the infield scoring freshman outfielder Catarina Anzalone all the way from second base. Pisa, Azusena Lopez, Annaliese Ruiz and Isabelle Mendoza all had two hits apiece. Lopez provided the only extra-base hit with a triple in the second inning. Mendoza had a season-high three runs driven in. Pisa and Lopez finished with two runs driven in. Ruiz improved to 4-0 in the circle after going five complete game innings for the first time in her Glendale career.

Coming up for the Vaqs, they will next be in action with two road doubleheaders against Victor Valley on February 12 and Mt San Jacinto on February 15. Game times for both doubleheaders with the first game starting at 12 pm and the second game starting at approximately 2 pm. As of right now, only the Victor Valley will be scheduled to be streamed on YouTube at GCC VAQS Athletics.
