As they have done all season, Raymond Lopez and Jennifer Cazarez led the way for the GCC Men and Women's Track team competing in the state meet May 18-19 at Bakersfield College. This event concluded the 2017-18 athletic season for Glendale College.

 

Lopez, who will attend Chico State University in the Fall, finished second in the 10,000 meters last Friday in 31:36.63 and took fifth in the 5,000 meters Saturday in 15:49.15 to earn All-American honors with top six finishes. Cazarez, a freshman, took fourth in the 10,000 meters in 40.12.22 and sixth in the 5,000 meters in 19:07.09 to earn All-American honors.

 

Sophomore Paulo Vazquez, who will attend Cal Poly in the Fall, also earned All-American status with a sixth place finish in the 1,500 meters in 3:59.46 and Carlos Rivera was seventh in the same race in 3:59.52. Genesis Siam-Alvarez finished 10th in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 12:39.25.
