GCC women's Basketball starts 2018-19 season with 74-44 win
The GCC Women's Basketball Team that beat Grossmont 74-44 today in an opening round game of the Riverside Tournament. Glendale will face the winner of the Santa Ana-Cerritos game today in a 5 pm championship semifinal Saturday Nov. 10.
The Lady Vaqs led only 34-29 at the half but outscored Grossmont 40-15 in the final two quarters to seal the victory. Glendale had four players in double figures, three off the bench, with team high honors shared by Esmeralda Perez and Penelopi Trieu with 12 points each. Sarah Perez and starting guard Cheyenne Jankulovski had 11 points each. Sylvia Vartazarian had a team high eight rebounds and Melissa Sandoval had five assists.
GCC shot 40 percent on 10 of 25 from the three point line and pulled down 41 rebounds.
