Almost two years is a long time not to play a home game but the GCC Women's Basketball Team made a triumphant return to the Verdugo Gym in the crossover event they hosted Nov. 19-20 at Glendale College.

The seems like old times moments came in the Lady Vaqs 83-68 win over Chaffey College Friday when they slashed and dashed their way to a relatively easy win despite starting three freshmen and trailing the visitors early on before taking a 40-28 halftime lead led by returning sophomore Vicky Oganyan at the point. The 2019-20 GCC squad finished 27-3 and this squad seems like it has elements of that team after making 18 3-pointers and turning 19 turnovers into many easy transition scores. Freshmen Hana Trieu led GCC with 19 points on six of six shooting from the field and five 3-pointers while Megan Delgado added 16 points, Ani Boyajyan had 12 and Jesni Cooper had 10 points.

Saturday's 63-51 win over Oxnard improved GCC's record to 4-1 and came with more challenges as the Lady Vaqs led only 26-25 at the half but finally found their shooting range to lead 50-34 after three quarters. Ani Boyajyan led GCC with 16 points and four 3-pointers. Kayla Wrobel added 14 points and game high eight rebounds and Megan Delgado had 10 points.

Glendale is off this week and plays next in the Allan Hancock Tournament Dec. 2-4.
