Through the first eight games of the 2021-22 season, the GCC Women's Basketball Team continues to be a work in progress but the Lady Vaqs should feel encouraged after a strong showing Dec.2-4 in the Allan Hancock Tournament. Glendale overcame a poor shooting outing in a first loss to Folsom Lake Thursday to win two of three games and defeat Mission College 73-65 Saturday to win the tourney's consolation title.

GCC fell to Folsom Lake College 57-42 Thursday and beat Orange Coast College 49-38 Friday. Wrobel and Dyani Del Castillo led the Lady Vaqs with 14 points each in the win and Wrobel led the team with 11 rebounds.

Now 6-2 overall this season, Glendale received a strong performance Saturday from freshman all-tourney selection Kayla Wrobel who led all scorers with 28 points and a game high 17 rebounds including seven boards off the offensive glass. Jesni Cooper added eight points, Ani Boyajyan had eight points and four assists and Vicky Oganyan had five rebounds and five points.

Glendale returns home to host Moorpark College Friday Dec. 10 at 7 pm in the Verdugo Gym. No fans are allowed.
