If the 2021-22 GCC Women's Basketball team is to contend for its third straight Western State Conference Title, their play this week might go a long way to determine how that goal plays out. After beating crosstown rival L.A. Valley 51-32 Monday Jan. 24, Glendale rolled to its fourth straight conference win with a 61-45 victory over Citrus College on the road Wednesday Jan. 26.

Now 4-2 after starting conference play with consecutive losses to Bakersfield and Canyons and 13-5 overall, Glendale is ranked No. 15 in the state and No. 10 in Southern California and seems to be hitting its stride with six games left in conference play when each game matters most.

Leading the way over Citrus was the one-two scoring punch of freshman Kayla Wrobel and sophomore Jesni Cooper who had 16 points each with Wrobel also leading the team with eight rebounds. Cooper added four 3-pointers to lead the team as well as five rebounds and three steals and sophomore point guard Vicky Oganyan added six rebounds, six assists and four steals. Freshman Ani Boyajyan had 10 points off the bench.

Glendale plays next at West Los Angeles College Saturday Jan. 29 at 5 pm.
