Just a few weeks ago, two straight defeats to Bakersfield and Canyons to open up Western State Conference Southern Division play made the prospects of Glendale College successfully defending its back-to-back titles tenuous at best. But that slow start is but a distant memory as the Lady Vaqs won their eighth straight game, 71-60 over Canyons on the Cougars home court Wednesday Feb. 9.

Now 8-2 in the WSC South and 17-5 overall, Glendale was led by the one-two scoring punch of Jesni Cooper and Kayla Wrobel who had 18 points each with Wrobel also pulling down 11 rebounds and Cooper adding five steals and four rebounds. Megan Delgado chipped in with 15 points off the bench and starter Hana Trieu had 11 points and point guard Vicky Oganyan had 10 assists and three boards.

Glendale, which also had a bounce back win over Bakersfield on Saturday, plays at home in the Verdugo Gym for its final two WSC South regular season games against Antelope Valley Saturday Feb. 12 at 3 pm and against Citrus Friday Feb. 18 at 3 pm. They lead the WSC South by 1 1/2 games.
