GCC Women's Basketball beats Cerritos 71-52 Nov. 3 in season opener

The promise of a new season was on display Thursday, Nov. 3 for the Glendale College Women's Basketball Team in its 2022-23 season home opener against Cerritos College in the Verdugo Gym.

Several new players made their debut for the Lady Vaqs and despite trailing 17-10 in the first quarter, won the game 71-52 with four players scoring in double figures. Maile Yamada led GCC with 15 points, Kaitlynn Key had 12, Faith Boulanger had 12 and Megans Delgado had 11 off the bench to pace Glendale. Key led the defensive effort with 11 rebounds and Boulanger had six, Jesni Cooper had five assists and Key had three steals.

Glendale does not play this week and returns to the hardwood Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18-19 in a crossover event hosted by GCC. The Lady Vaqs will face Chaffey College Friday at 7 p.m. and Fullerton Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Verdugo Gym.
