The conditions at Bakersfield College Saturday Jan. 14 may have been cold and rainy but the GCC Women's Basketball Team got off to a hot start to beat the host Renegades 74-36 in a Western State Conference Southern Division matchup. Now 4-0 in WSC South play to lead the division by one game and 14-4 overall, the Lady Vaqs jumped out to a 22-1 first quarter lead and 34-15 halftime advantage to win the game handily.

Eleven players scored for Glendale as they went to the bench early and often to get contributions throughout the lineup. Reserve Cherilyn Legaspi paced the offense with 15 points and hit three of GCC's 12 long balls in the contest. Jesni Cooper added 13 points and had three 3's and Megan Delgado had 10 points off the bench. Kaitlynn Key led the team with eight rebounds and Paola Gorgeiz added seven and Alyssa Cartagena had six as the team totaled 44 carroms. Maile Yamada led the team with six assists and Hana Trieu added four.

Glendale continues WSC south play with a home game Wednesday Jan. 18 at 5 pm against Citrus College.
