The conclusion of the first half of conference play for the Glendale College Women's Basketball team saw them bounce back from its first WSC South loss with a convincing 62-41 win over visiting Antelope Valley College Wednesday Jan. 25 at home in the Verdugo Gym. The 68-67 loss to College of the Canyons Jan. 21 is the only blemish for the Lady Vaqs in conference play at 6-1 after gaining a forfeit win over Santa Monica in a game that was to be played Jan. 28 before the Corsairs suspended their season. Glendale is now 17-5 overall.

Along with displaying a stingy defense, the Lady Vaqs shot the ball well, jumping out to a 17-6 first quarter lead and 33-15 halftime advantage. Jesni Cooper and Maile Yamada led all scorers with 13 points each and reserve Paola Gorgeiz added seven points off the bench to go along with a team high eight rebounds, two blocked shots and one steal. Faith Boulanger added seven points and four assists and Yamada led all all players with five assists. Alyssa Cartagena and Hana Trieu had five points each and Tori Delacroix added six boards.

Glendale will not play Saturday Jan. 28 and will play next Wednesday Feb. 1 at home against Bakersfield College at 5 pm and Saturday Feb. 4 at home against L.A. Valley College at 3 pm.
