GCC WBB wins seventh straight game 67-44 over Cuesta College Jan. 6; start defense of WSC Title this week
After winning its seventh straight game to improve to 12-2 this season, the GCC Women's Basketball team came away with two impressive wins January 5-6 and seem poised to defend their WSC South Title that they have won four consecutive years. The Lady Vaqs beat Imperial Valley College 60-37 Jan. 5 and beat Cuesta College 67-44 Jan. 6.
 
Ranked fifth in the state and eighth in Southern California, GCC had four players score in double figures with Malia Ulery leading the starters with 14 points and Evelyn Birau had 10 and Paola Gorgeiz continuing her solid play with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Patil Yaacoubian had 10 points off the bench as 11 Glendale players saw playing time Saturday.
 
Glendale starts defense of its WSC South Title with a home game Wednesday Jan. 10 against Santa Monica City College at 7 pm in the Verdugo Gym. They play at Bakersfield College Jan. 13 at 5 pm.
