GCC WBB takes over first place in WSC South at 5-0 with 64-53 win over Citrus College Jan. 24
Several weeks ago when the GCC Women's Basketball Team was 5-2, the future of the squad may have been unclear as the 2023-24 season unfolded. But a dozen games later, the Lady Vaqs seem to be on a clear path to success as they won their 12th straight game 64-53 over Citrus College Jan. 24 to take over first place in the WSC South at 5-0 and are 17-2 overall.
 
Glendale had one of its best shooting games of the season against Citrus shooting 50 percent from the field, 54 percent from the 3-point line and 80 percent from the free throw line and out rebounded the home team 38-18. Malia Ulery led GCC with 15 points and added six rebounds and three assists. Evelyn Birau chipped in with 14 points and Osanna Tirityan added 12 points, five rebounds and three steals and Paola Georgeiz had a game high 10 rebounds and eight points.
 
Ranked No, 5 in Southern California and No. 8 in the state, Glendale hosts College of the Canyons Saturday Jan. 27 at 3 pm in the Verdugo Gym.
