GCC WBB improves to10-0 in WSC South with 65-38 win over L.A. Valley College Feb 10; have won 17 straight games to improve to 22-2
With just four games left on the WSC South schedule and leading by two games, it is almost not a matter of if but when will the GCC Women's Basketball clinch it' s fifth straight conference title. The Lady Vaqs took another step towards that goal with a 65-38 win on the road Saturday Feb. 10 against L.A. Valley College to improve 10-0 in conference play, 22-2 overall and have won 17 straight games.
 
Now ranked No. 4 in Southern California and No.7 in the state, GCC had five players and four starters score in double figures led by Paola Gorgeiz with 14 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots. Evelyn Birau added 13 points and three assists, Osanna Tirityan had 10 points and six rebounds and Malia Ulery had 10 points, four rebounds and three assists. Patil Yaacoubian chipped in with 12 points and six rebounds off the bench.
 
Glendale plays on the road Wednesday Feb. 14 at Bakersfield College at 7 pm and host Citrus College Saturday Feb. 17 at 3 pm in the Verdugo Gym.
