GCC WBB wins fifth straight WSC South Title with 64-41win over Citrus College Feb. 17: improves to 12-0 in conference, 24-2 overall with 19th straight win
On its way to clinching its fifth straight Western State Conference Southern Division Title Feb. 17 against Citrus College, the GCC Women's Basketball Team exhibited the kind of poise and focus that has made them one of the best teams in Southern California and the state this season. They trailed the visiting Owls 16-14 after the first quarter but allowed just five points each in the second and third quarters to win 64-41 to remain undefeated in WSC play at 12-0 with a three-game lead and just two regular season games left.
 
One area where the Lady Vaqs has excelled this season is defensive pressure as they helped cause 14 turnovers and turned them into 16 points as they extended their 34-21 halftime lead to 52-26 after three quarters, leading by as many as 28 heading into the final stanza. Malia Ulery led the surge with a game high16 points adding five assists, three rebounds and one steal. Patil Yaacoubian chipped in with 14 points off the bench and Osanna Tirityan added 11 points and eight rebounds while Paola Gorgeiz added nine points, nine rebounds and four steals.
 
Glendale, ranked No. 4 in Southern California and No. 7 in the state closes out the 2024 conference regular season this week with a road game Feb. 21 at College of the Canyons at 7 pm and the regular season home finale Friday Feb. 23 at 7pm vs Antelope Valley College where the sophomores will be honored.
