In a week where narrow victories seem to be the norm, the GCC Women's Basketball Team rallied for a 58-57 victory for its 12 straight over West Los Angeles College win highlighted by a school record 22 rebounds by freshman Shadel Ffrench. Glendale maintains a one game lead in the WSC south at 7-0 and is 17-3 overall and ranked No. 5 in the CCCWBCA state rankings.
Ffrench, who had 11 offensive boards and 11 on the defensive side, also had 14 points. Sammy Velasquez led the team with 15 points and added four steals and three assists and Malia Ulery had 13 points and seven rebounds. Glendale trailed 45-28 after three quarters and outscored WLAC 27-15 in the fourth quarter to claim the victory.
Glendale has a home slate this week with a pair of games, Wednesday Feb. 5 vs College of the Canyons at 5 pm and against Santa Monica on Saturday Feb. 8 at 3 pm.
