As if jumping out to a 28-0 lead wasn't enough against visiting College of the Canyons Wednesday Feb. 5 in a WSC South matchup, the resulting 72-29 outcome was not surprising for the GCC Women's Basketball Team as it took the Cougars until the 7:41 mark of the second quarter to score their first points of the game. The win was the 13th straight for the Lady Vaqs as they improved to 8-0 in conference play and 18-3 overall.
With 13 players getting playing time and 11 scoring, Malia Ulery led the team in scoring with 14 points and added five rebounds and three assists in just 23 minutes on the court. Janelly Portillo added 13 points and five rebounds off the bench as well as three steals and Shadel Ffrench had 11 points and nine rebounds with seven of those boards coming off the offensive glass.
Glendale continues conference play with a home game Saturday Feb. 8 at 3 pm against Santa Monica City College.
