In a game that was originally scheduled for Jan. 8 and postponed because of high winds and local fires, the GCC Women's Basketball Team started fast and maintained its lead throughout the game in winning its 15th straight, 59-48 in the home win over West Los Angeles College Feb.10. Glendale improved to 20-3 overall and has a one game lead in the WSC South standings at 10-0 and is ranked No. 5 in the state poll.
Sammy Velasquez led the Lady Vaqs in scoring with 13 points and freshman Shadel Ffrench was her usual imposing self on defense with a game high 19 rebounds, seven on the offensive glass, and added 11 points and two blocked shots. Malia Ulery also had 11 points as well as seven rebounds and seven assists.
Glendale continues conference play Wednesday at Bakersfield College at 5 pm and hosts L.A. Valley College Saturday Feb. 15 in the final regular season home game of the season at 3 pm.
