As the 2025 Western State Conference season winds down, the GCC Women's Basketball team is clearly in the driver's seat as they lead the standings with a two-game lead with three to play after beating Bakersfield College 76-28 Wednesday Feb. 12. A conference title would be the sixth straight for the Lady Vaqs who have won 16 straight games and are 21-3 overall, 11-0 in the WSC South and rank tied for fifth in the state poll.
Freshman Shadel Ffrench led Glendale with18 points and 8 rebounds and sophomore Maribel Rodriguez had 11 points, six rebounds and three assists off the bench. Shushan Krikorian and Maow Melendez had eight points each, Evelyn Birau had seven points and starters Lisette Mesa and Sammy Velasquez had six points each.
GCC ends its 2024-25 regular season home schedule Saturday Feb. 15 with a 3 pm clash against Los Angeles Valley College in the Vaquero Gym. A Southern California Regional Playoff berth awaits Glendale and will be announced after the completion of the regular season next week.
