"Transitioning from high school to university is a very difficult step for many students. Although I applied to several universities out of high school, I decided attending Glendale Community College would be a good transition for me. This was the best decision I made, because GCC has not only been a school to me, but also a home. GCC allowed me to participate in extracurricular activities I love, while focusing on and succeeding in my academics. Although I have become very independent in the past two years, attending community college provided me with the comfort of staying home with my family, while I work towards my goals. GCC has really prepared me for the next level of education, with all the difficult science courses I've taken to the extracurricular activities I've participated in. I will be attending UCSD as a neurobiology major, and GCC's amazing science department has prepared me for the rigorous courses I will be taking at UCSD this fall. Not only have I grown academically, but I have also grown as a person and an athlete. I have played on GCC's tennis team for the last year and have had the best experiences in doing so. I've met people I will be friends with for a lifetime and have had teachers and coaches that contributed so much to my success today. Although GCC is a community college by name, it is much more than that and the classes are just as difficult here as they would be at universities. GCC's staff consists of the most hard working and dedicated people, and they are the reason GCC is such a great place for students to grow and be able to transition smoothly into a university."
