Dave Shannon Invitational – El Camino College

The Vaqueros had an outstanding showing at the Dave Shannon Invitational, with multiple athletes setting new personal records and earning spots in the 2025 3C2A state rankings.
Men's Highlights:

Julien Rivera (Freshman) set a new personal record in the Javelin, throwing 42.56 meters. His mark now ranks him 28th in the 3C2A state rankings.

Juan Zamora III (Sophomore) delivered an impressive performance in the 5000m, cutting 20 seconds off his previous best with a new record time of 15:16.41. His effort met the 3C2A state championship "B" standard and secured him the 21st spot in the 2025 3C2A state rankings.

The steeplechase trio of Victor Amaya (Freshman), Andrew Kanzangian (Freshman), and Isaiah Garcia (Sophomore) attempted to sweep the 3000m steeplechase. While they fell just short of a sweep, Kanzangian fought off a late charge to win with a personal best of 10:36.43. Amaya and Garcia followed close behind, finishing 3rd and 4th with PRs of 10:42.02 and 10:43.72, respectively.

Adrian Rodriguez (Sophomore) ran a courageous race in the 1500m, setting a new PR of 4:25.40.

Daniel Rodriguez (Freshman) put together a strong sprinting performance, setting new personal bests of 12.15 in the 100m and 24.87 in the 200m.
Women's Highlights:

Keyaiyah Johnston (Sophomore) took 1st place in the Triple Jump with a mark of 10.39 meters, earning the 15th spot in the 3C2A state rankings.

Lilit Arakelyan (Sophomore) dominated the 3000m steeplechase, crossing the line in 11:27.46 for the win.

Rashel-Alvarez Chavez (Freshman) ran a personal best of 5:07.39 in the 1500m, improving by three seconds and moving up to 41st in the 3C2A state rankings.

Jaycee Anderson (Freshman) continued to progress in the sprints, clocking new personal bests of 15.53 in the 100m and 31.68 in the 200m.
This meet showcased our team's ability to rise to the occasion and compete at a high level. As we move forward in the season, we will continue to build on this momentum and refine our performances in preparation for championship meets ahead
