GCC Cross Country Teams bring home WSC Titles; Women ranked No. 1 in state, men ranked No. 6

The WSC Cross Country Runner's Cups will stay in Glendale! The men and women both claimed the Western State Conference Titles this past Friday in San Luis Obispo. The women scored a total of 28 points, easily beating out Oxnard who scored a total of 83 points to capture their 15th consecutive conference title. They were led by Yajaira Calderon (19:51.5), Phoebe Forsyth (20:06.4), and Jamie Levin (20:22.3), who crossed the finish line at 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place respectively. Lydia Forsyth would finish 7th in a time of 20:31.1 and Bianca Biel would take 9th in a time of 21:15.6 to round out the top five scoring runners. Viviana Del Campo would take 13th in a time of 21:59.6, and she was followed by Jasmine Corralejo who would come in 25th in a time of 21:59.6. The top five scoring runners would finish in the top ten, and six would finish in the top fourteen.

The men would capture their 4th consecutive conference title, scoring a total of 43 point. They were led by Albert Serrano (22:50.6), Kevin Keller (22:57.5), and Marvin Guardado (22:59.4), who would come across the finish line in 6th, 7th, and 9th respectively. They were followed by Ameer Mohammed (23:00.2) who would take 9th and Abraham Martinez (23:00.8) who came in 11th rounding out the top five scorers. Usiel Ulloa would take 16th in a time of 23:31.9 and Spencer Geck would go on to take 17th in a time of 23:32.7. The men had all five scoring runners finish in the top fourteen, and all seven in the top twenty. Glendale will have a bye week and will head back down south to San Diego for the Southern California Championships on November 8th.
