GCC Football leads early but falls to Santa Ana College 27-24 Sept. 21; is now 1-1 this season
The 27-24 defeat to Santa Ana College Sept. 21 goes down in the books as a loss but the GCC Football Team may have more positives than negatives to dwell on after the non-conference game hosted by Santa Ana.

Glendale led 14-0 in the early stages of the games and 14-6 at halftime before Santa Ana rallied to take the lead in the back and forth second half and then held on with a late score after the Vaqueros took the lead 24-19 late in the contest.

The Vaqs seemed to find their stride offensively as freshman quarterback Jackson Askins passed for 369 yards on 23 completions in 34 attempts and two touchdowns and completed passes to eight different receivers . Southern California Football Association American Division Special Teams Player of the Week Jake Wisener caught five passes for 188 yards and one score and also returned three punts for 28 yards for a total of 216 all-purpose yards. Shade Schaefer added to the ariel attack by hauling in eight passes for 84 yards and one touchdown as GCC had 439 yards of total offense in the game.

GCC totaled some solid numbers on defense as Isaac Robinson had 12 tackles, Brooklyn Pasten had 11 tackles and one sack and SCFA Defensive Player of the Week Colin Farhberger also had11 tackles. Dario Sandoval had three sacks and five tackles in the game.
