Late Rally leads GCC Women's Basketball to 55-53 win over Citrus College Jan. 18; Lady Vaqs now 15-4 and 5-0 in WSC South

You really had to see the end of the WSC South matchup between visiting Citrus College and host Glendale to believe it. With the Owls leading 53-40 with three minutes left in the game, the Lady Vaqs scored 15 straight points without surrendering a score by the visitors to rally for a 55-53 win before a frenzied crowd in the Verdugo Gym Wednesday, Jan. 18. The victory helped GCC maintain its one game lead in the WSC South at 5-0 and improved its overall record to 15-4.

The Lady Vaqs, ranked tied for 10th in Southern California and 19th in the state, were aided in their furious late game rally with six points by Jesni Cooper, five by Megan Delgado and four by Maile Yamada. Yamada led the team in scoring with 18 points, four rebounds and three steals, Cooper added 10 points, five steals and four rebounds and Faith Boulanger had 10 points, six rebounds and four blocked shots.

Glendale continues WSC play Saturday, Jan. 21 at College of the Canyons at 3 p.m.
